Recipes for a Perfect Marriage - Kate Kerrigan
This was the strangest approach to a love story I think I've ever seen. Two separate, but connected stories about how each woman found the meaning of love in her marriage. One was the grandmother of the younger woman. That was their connection. Neither woman was particularly likable. One married the man her family contracted her to after she messed up. The other married a man who was handy when she reached the point of being afraid she'd end up single all her life. Neither woman loved her husband when they were married or really understood love much at all. This tells their day to day stories, more or less, where life happens and love grows. And it tells of the crises they come to when each woman comes to understand what love is and how it fits and works in her own life.
